Baseball is the Best

Baseball? #

I don't actully think baseball is the best. But as I don my shirt that says it is in anticipation for some playoff baseball games to be played later today, I got to thinking about some of the things that have helped me connect with my feelings.

"Why do you like sad games?" #

Tell me if you've heard this one before: a person who is a computer programmer also has a tendency to act like a robot, especially when it comes to emotions.

So I gravitate to experiences, songs, movies, etc. that help me get in touch with my feelings. Oftentimes that's video games; sometimes it's not.

Sometimes it's something that's very in-your-face about loss, like a movie or book.

Sometimes it's something more subtle, like Outer Wilds (bonus points for a soundtrack that evokes those emotions again as well).

Sometimes it's the well-written words of a stranger.

And sometimes... it's just baseball.
